Very cute book!

I have a 4yr old girl & 2 yr old boy, and we all enjoyed reading this book. It's well written, fun, light-hearted and has a great message. I love the Dad's patience in the book in letting his boy teach him how to get dressed. It's how we interact with our kids as well, and our kids love showing us when they're ready. I will be looking for other books by this author.

I rated this book five-starS because I feel that this book makes lots of sense . But the part I diDn't like was the fact that the mother of the child wasn't in the book. I recommend this book to kids who think that they can't dress themselves or kids who feel the shouldn't have to dress themselves that the mommy should do it or the father. As of Today I will have recommended this book to kids

Please Read this Much Needed Book

I wish I'd read Shelley's book when I was a young woman. So many females are raised to believe that they are ugly, fat, don't dress well, or have bad hair. They believe that these lies represent who they are. It's no wonder that women discover they have low or no self-esteem. The book begins with moving stories from real women, who have dealt with lies about body image. They not only reveal their past, they share the joy and beauty they've found in Jesus. A theme that "God looks at the heart, not the outside appearance" resonates throughout the text. After reading the shared stories, Shelley provides a wonderful chapter that offers steps to overcome the lies by learning and relying on the truth of God. I recommend Body Image Lies Women Believe for all women, teens through middle aged, even older women who have never learned that God thinks they're beautiful. Also, mothers who want to break the cycle and encourage their daughters should read this wonderful message from God.

Great Book Worth Reading

This is a great book that gives Biblical inspiration for why women believe the way they do. I really enjoyed reading this book as it touched on the problems I have been having with my self-esteem and how to handle them. I plan on keeping it around to review at later times to help friends and children with any problems they could be having as well. Very enjoyable book. Overcoming Lies We Believe about our Body Image of Ourselves

"In society, beauty is [judged on] a thin line, and while we're busy trying to balance on that line, we forget that to the only One whose opinion truly matters there is only one definition of beauty. [Jesus] is beautiful. He created "beautiful." He is the epitome of beauty. If anyone should be judging what we look like, it should be Him. In all fairness, when He looks at us, He should turn away in disgust [because of our flaws]. If I were Him, I wouldn't want to look at me either - but that's just the thing; He does. He sees me and despite myself, He does not close His eyes. The Bible declares that we were made in His own image, and that's not just the cheerleaders; it's the fat girls, the tall girls, the short girls, the nerds, the girls no guy has ever given a second look. And when He looks at each and every one of us, He does not close His eyes."

One of the most interesting parts of Body Image Lies Women Believe is the life stories of the many women who contributed to this collection. You can't help but connect with the writers. So many of their personal experiences mirror our own, suffering in the many ways women do when we accept the body image lies fed to us and believed by us. In each chapter, a person openly shares her pain...telling her story.

While the stories are widely varied, with some suffering disfigurements from either disease or trauma, others suffered because they were vulnerable to nuances of teasing and subtle and not so subtle prodding from loved ones in our lives, acquaintances, classmates and even total strangers. Perception colors our world. Once we've received the "message" that we're somehow unacceptable and flawed, we often believe anything that supports that perception and reject even blatantly obvious truth about ourselves. Have you ever wondered why this is true? The concepts taught in this book will help you figure it out, so that you can apply the principles for yourself. There is hope.

My perceptions of myself in my growing up years were based on need. I wanted to be loved and accepted. My weight problems were one of the physical aspects of my problem. Deep down I didn't really believe I was worthy of being loved. This is why the stories in this book resonated with me. Some of their stories could have been mine. Some of their stories could be similar to yours. But the stories are more than just sharing bad experiences. They offer an alternative to believing the lies. The storytellers share with us how their hearts were changed, and they were transformed. They don't believe the lies any more.

In the final chapter, the author shares step by step how we can overcome our poor self image. I know these steps work, since I have applied them for myself and been successful in overcoming most of my self-image problems the same way the author has shared with her readers. The key is to be persistent; realize that change does not happen overnight. It takes time for our perceptions to be overturned. But it can be done by God's Grace. I highly recommend this book.

Loved, loved,loved the book

The story was beyond well written. But it is more than that. I am an annoyingly sensitive reader. I just hate poorly written books. Hate it when an author describes a house as a tiny house with a cute little door and a small garden.....I mean if a person is a writer give us readers a break. In a Sandra Brown book there is none of that to worry about. Her descriptions put you in between her characters...you tingle with joy at how she does it,you are practically panting skin to skin.
Without telling the story I can only advise you to read her work.

I read Mean Streak by Sandra Brown before I read Deadline. I like the former better, but it may be because she is now more developed as a writer. Both are very good reads, though.

Do yourself a favor and read this!

Love tough alpha heroes and heroines capable of kicking butt? Look no further. I love Ms. Brown's Trust No One series and this third book has done nothing but made me want more. I won't give anything away, but just know that Rayna and Ty are HOT and the suspense keeps you turning pages. Do yourself a favor and read this!

Review: Trust No One #3: If You Only Knew

If You Only Knew by Dixie Lee Brown is the third book in her Trust No One series. A fast-paced, intriguing tale of loss, love, bad guys, and danger. I actually forgot how much I loved tales of SEAL's/mercenaries/tough guys as it's been a couple of months since I've read one. It's the extra mix of hotness saving peoples lives or keeping the country safe that makes them so great! Loved this book!

Rayna Dugan has suffered the loss of her parents and then her older brother and knows she can't handle any more loss. So she's cutting ties with Ty Whitlcok before she falls any further in love with him. His job is dangerous and she can't risk her heart any more.

Ty's world comes crashing down when Rayna tells him she does not love him and is ready to leave and go to college. He had hopes and dreams of eventually having the picket fence and the loving wife and Rayna was who he could picture in that role. When he gets called into his bosses office and witnesses a "proof-of-life" video from Rayna's kidnappers and receives specific instructions to follow to keep her alive he knows his past has finally caught up with him and is about to ruin everything.

Trust that this is a good read!

This is the third book in the “Trust No One” series, featuring a group of “good guy” mercenaries from Montana. I hadn’t read the first two books but I plan to remedy that! I had no problems whatsoever reading this as a standalone, so if you want to jump into the series and read backwards I don’t think it would be a problem.

Rayna has lost everyone in her life; most recently her last living relative, a brother. Once she falls in love with Ty, however, her fear of losing him to their jobs makes her push him away, feeling that it would be less painful in the long term to walk away now. However, she didn’t plan to get in the crosshairs of the Russian mafia.

IF YOU ONLY KNEW was a great romantic suspense — it kept my attention (kids? what kids?) and had lots of action – emotional and physical (ba da boom). I had figured out the bad guy, and the other bad guy’s motivation, (which is why The Man won’t watch mystery type shows on the TV with me LOL!) but it didn’t deter from suspense of the story. If you get the chance, READ IT! Just sayin’.

If you like unadulterated, non-stop violence, this novel is for you. It is the latest in the Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels series, and begins with three vigilantes conducting simultaneous sniping murders of three sex offenders. Jack is on the scene and one of the shooters thinks she saw him so he gets his confederates to join him in following her home to eliminate her as a witness.

At the same time, Jack's old nemesis Alex Kork escapes from the facility where she is incarcerated and invades Jack's home with the intent of torturing and killing Jack and others responsible for her capture. She begins a game of Russian roulette, asking Jack all sorts of questions. If an answer is incorrect, Alex pulls the trigger, giving the selected victims---Jack's mom and fiancé--a one-in-six chance of survival. Then the snipers show up and all kinds of mayhem occurs.

The story is a continuous series of gruesome murders, maiming, fighting, wounds and other misfortunes. If that's your cup of tea, fine, but it might not appeal to everyone.

I love the Jack Daniels series, but the reasons are so odd its tough to put to words. Jack is intelligent and tough without being manish and unemotional. Her friends and partners are unique and different and sometimes annoying. Still, what really drags you in to a Jack Daniels mystery is the violence surrounded by crazy laughter. "Fuzzy Navel" the latest entry started out with such harsh violence that it almost turned me away...almost. Just when you can't take anymore I found myself sputtering with giggles at the dialogue. The plot is solid and the action is nonstop. Start with Whiskey Sour and read them all.

Reminds me of the movie, the Evil Dead Part 2

If you've ever seen the Evil Dead, Part 2, the title of this review has probably told you much of what you need to know. If not, I'll spell it out. In the Evil Dead Part 2, somewhere around halfway into the movie, things degenerate into "how often can Ash be hit in the head by things without dying". Seriously. He has more (I lost count) than 20 plates broken over his head by his demonically possessed hand.

The violence is so frequent, pointless, and extreme that it loses all meaning and becomes slapstick.

That is what happens with Fuzzy Navel. Constant streams of bullets, punches and martial arts flying left and right, chainsaws, knives, a killer cat. People getting free of one obstacle only to find themselves in deeper trouble than they started out in.
No character development, no real plot.
Funny, in an over the top kind of way, but not particularly interesting.
This one won't be added to my bookshelf next to the previous three books in the series.

I enjoyed writing this novel and love Stacy Williams, the heroine. Her cheerfulness and unflappable optimism were too much for Nate Roach, the hero, to resist. I laughed, in a good way, watching him fall for Stacy. His cynicism and aloofness didn't stand a chance in the face of her effervescence. I particularly liked the scene at the amusement park where Stacy was screaming her lungs out and squeezing the circulation out of Nate's arm as the roller coaster plummeted. The fact that she got right back on after that wild ride captured her intrepid nature and her 'adrenalin rush junkie' type of personality. After that first date, Nate couldn't help coming back for more.

A believer in happy endings and forever after type stories, Brigette has been an avid romance reader since her teens. I greatly enjoyed reading this book.

This story is about the developing romance of a multi-cultural/ethnic (Christian) couple, so the BWWM category of romance I found this book in was a little misleading. The main female character (Stacy) made me love her, and laugh out loud, almost instantly -despite her bordering on being too naive for her age, in relation to flirting with men. I wish the author would have dared to allow the main male character (Nate) to be as "pure" as the main female character, since it seemed to be an issue for Stacy's character. I was left to surmise that at his age, he was "experienced" but respecting his commitment to the Lord by refraining, especially due to a previous betrayal. As for the other issues, people, and situations these characters had to deal with, read and enjoy! I really enjoyed this author's writing style, and story and character development, because it flowed well and I wanted to know what would happen next. I recommend this book.

Love the details to the Jamaican culture. Would be a good lifetime movie. The author really developed her characters. Well done.
